1902

9th Avenue at E. 24th Street

I can’t make out the name of this maker, but the bottom line reads “Oakland.” This mark is also noteworthy for being the oldest barrel-shaped mark I’ve found. No one else used this shape, as far as I can tell, until J. H. Fitzmaurice adopted it in 1926, and after that no one used it until 1940.

1908

1454 36th Avenue

I can’t make this one out, although I keep thinking it looks familiar. But I’ve checked all the oval marks in the graphic key to no avail.

1906

820 58th Street

This is the third 1906 Peterson & Adler mark I’ve found, and it’s by far the best preserved one by this maker, although the light doesn’t flatter it.

1906

5920 Genoa Street

This is as pristine a mark as you will find from 1906.

1902

1084 59th Street

Been looking for one of these for a long time: the original form of the Oakland Paving Co. mark, pre-1910. This is also my first mark from 1902.
